MARLBOROUGH – Marlborough Hospital’s Safe Summer Fun Day will be held on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus’ front lawn and parking lot.
The event is a free child-oriented health and safety fair that features hands-on hospital exhibits. One of the event’s signature activities is the bike helmet-fitting tent, where trained caregivers properly fit and give away children’s bicycle helmets while supplies last.
Safe Summer Fun Day also features fun, family-oriented activities such as an obstacle course, a trackless train, a DJ, balloon animals, educational booths and contests.
Free health related activity books will be available in several languages that emphasize the importance of literacy for good health and safety.
The fire department and the police department will be attending to teach families about how to stay safe.
Paramedics will be attending in an ambulance offering a chance to check one out.
Life Flight Air Ambulance will arrive and children can look inside this emergency helicopter and meet the highly trained staff.
“Safe Summer Fun Day is a huge event in so many ways,” said Ellen Carlucci, Marlborough Hospital’s vice president of marketing and communications. “It not only draws a great crowd, but it helps the hospital connect with the community and serve as an educational resource. It reminds our neighbors that we are here to help keep them healthy because that is how a community thrives.
“It’s also fun to give away free bike helmets and bikes. It’s a great way to keep kids safe and families informed.”
