Grafton – Laura Jane Aversano, 87 of Grafton, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Laura was born in Worcester, daughter of Louis and Madeline (DeCataldo) Aversano. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Anna Maria College in Worcester, MA.. and went on to attain a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Social Work from Fordham University in New York City.
Laura was called to serve the Lord in 1958 when she entered the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in New York City for 35 years. She also was the esteemed Foundress of Droste Mental Health Services, Inc, formerly known as Maria Droste Counseling Services.
Laura is survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Karl Chapin of Grafton; many friends, colleagues, and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Monday, June 3, 2024 from 8:30-9:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 3rd at 10:00 am in Saint John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
