Shrewsbury – Gale Ann DeLorge, a beacon of strength and wisdom, passed away on June 23rd, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family in her home in Shrewsbury. Born to Mary Ann O’Keefe and Russell O’Keefe Sr on March 27th, 1961, Gale’s life was a tapestry of strength, wisdom, and resilience.

A graduate of Fanning Trade in 1979, Gale pursued a career in medical assisting, addiction and recovery counseling, and was a proud full time sponsor in recovery to many people.

Gales calling as an medical assistant and as a sponsor was evident to all who knew her. For the past 14-15 years, she’s taken pride in being a recovering addict and alcoholic and helping other people grow away from their addiction and help encourage people to stay clean and sober.

Her life outside the recovery and work was rich with the simple pleasures she cherished. She loved riding her Harley Davidson every chance she could and lighting up neighborhoods making all the car alarms go off. She enjoyed leisurely beach trips with her friends, riding to Laconia, and of course being in the sun.

Gale’s legacy will be carried on through the program, the softball community, her family, and everyone else who’s had a chance to share moments with her. She was a strong, resilient, and knowledgeable person and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.

Predeceased by her mother Mary Ann O’Keefe and nephew Roger Bergeron Sr, Gale’s spirit is carried forward by her father, Russell O’Keefe Sr, beloved sons, Chris, Tyler, and Ryan; her grandchildren, Joey Sr, Chris Jr, Harmony, Sophia, London, Joey Jr, Roger Jr, Bentley, Jacian, Samantha, Trevor and great nephew Jahkari, as well as her sister and 3 brothers, Ginger, Billy, Russell, and Tom.

The service to honor and celebrate Gale’s life will be held on June 28th at Graham Putnam and Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St in Worcester from 9-11am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Saint John’s cemetery on 260 Cambridge St.

Christopher DeLorge, Tyler DeLorge, Joseph Page, Joseph Page Jr, Christopher DeLorge Jr, Ryan Withers, and Mathew Baker will serve as pallbearers, accompanying Gale on her final journey.
