WESTBOROUGH – After months of meetings and preparations, the town enacted its new Pay as You Throw policy on Monday, July 1, at the Transfer Station.

Department of Public Health Director Jennifer Sullivan joined volunteers in making sure vehicles had the proper Transfer Station stickers and had their trash in PAYT bags.

According to Sullivan, they had turned away someone from Milford trying to access the transfer station. The dumping of trash by nonresidents was a major reason for the policy changes.

PAYT stickers are available at the Board of Health office at Town Hall. PAYT bags are currently available at Roche Bros. and Ace Hardware in Westborough; and Market Basket and India Market in Shrewsbury.

Visit www.westboroughma.gov for details on the program.
