Barbara was raised in the Grafton Hill section of Worcester and she graduated from St. Stephen’s High School. After graduating, she worked for a short time in the office of pediatrician, Dr. Cunningham, followed by marriage and the start of her family. Barbara unselfishly devoted her life to her family. As well as cleaning and keeping an orderly home, and cooking (morning, noon, and night), she attended to the needs of each of her children. Her good organization skills kept things running as smoothly as could be. For many, many years, she prepared Sunday dinners, Christmas Eve celebrations, and birthdays, birthdays, birthdays!
As her children moved on with their lives, Barbara found time for her own interests which included times spent with her friends from their “club” (which were friends from her high school days), gardening, crafts, and more than a few casino runs to play slot machines.
Our mother will always be remembered as a humble, kind, soft-spoken person who opened her heart, especially to those whose struggles were particularly difficult. She brought wisdom and comfort to many family members and friends through the years.
The family would like to thank the Jewish Hospice of Worcester, for their loving and tender care of Barbara, and their support, and encouragement for her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
