Doris McKinnonBonita, FL – Doris (Curley) McKinnon of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Marlboro, Massachusetts, died Saturday May 11, 2024 peacefully in the arms of her adoring family at the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late John J. Curley and Phyllis (Warren) Curley.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son John J. McKinnon. She is survived by her husband, Russell T. McKinnon, daughters Debbie (McKinnon) Barton, Donna (McKinnon) MacKey all of Bonita Springs, Fl and son, Russell Jr. and Donna McKinnon of Westboro, Ma.; Daughter in law Valerie (McKinnon) (Josh) Bachman; Grandchildren Kate (Eric) Owens-Heins, Ryan Tuttle, Alexa (McKinnon) (the late Michael) Oevermann, Tucker McKinnon. Great Grandchildren; Robert Souza, Mitchell Owens, Garrison Owens, John Owens, Luke Tuttle, Madison Tuttle and Waylon Owens.

Born and raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Doris played basketball and bugle for the marching band at Roxbury High School . That was when she met and fell in love with her beloved, Russell. They married shortly after in 1957 and celebrated 67 years of marriage. They were determined at such an early age, against all odds, to raise a family and move to Marlboro. Never looking back they did just that having Debbie, Donna, Russell and John.

Doris was a school bus driver for the Marlboro School System for 25 years, an integral part of McKinnon Properties in its heyday. LB Darling, Braemore Nursing Home, Bonita Springs Dog Track and a proud volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Doris was an active member in her children’s lives and made their childhood magical. Running them to Girl’s Scouts, football, and hockey. Doris and Russ were known to rip up a dance floor like nobody’s business. She could stretch a buck with her red clicker at the “Big D”. She always took care of others, her grandmother, her mother in law and her mother in their later years. Doris loved nothing more than spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Great times were remembered at hockey games with the entire team and the parents. Vacations abroad with her family and their lifelong friends.
