Former New York Deli owner killed in Holliston crashWESTBOROUGH – The former owner of the New York Deli at 122 Turnpike Road was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Holliston on Sunday, July 21.

According to Holliston Police, at around 7:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the corner of Prentice and Mill streets involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, officers attended to the operator of the motorcycle; he was identified as Andrew Palumbo, 62, of Ashland. He was treated at the scene by police and fire personnel, then transported by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Palumbo was pronounced dead shortly after he was admitted to the emergency room.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 72-year-old man from Holliston, was not injured. He has been cooperating with the authorities during the investigation, which is ongoing.

Troopers assigned to the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scenes Services are assisting in the investigation.

An assistant district attorney from the Middlesex County DA’s office has also been assigned.

Services for Palumbo have yet to be announced.

Palumbo opened the deli in 1996. It was recently put on the market for $300,000.
