Northborough – Ernest R. “Ernie” Farley, 92, of Northborough, Passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Margaret L. (Ross) Farley.
Ernie was born and raised in Biddeford, Maine. His journey in the Marine Corps led him to California, where he met his wife Margaret. They began their family and moved frequently across the country during his career as a salesman with Dow Chemical. He eventually settled in Northborough, MA where he transitioned to owner of NCE Inc., which he proudly operated until the age of 88.
His home was famous for its treacherous but beautifully landscaped driveway. Ernie enjoyed golfing and was a member of Pleasant Valley Country Club for many years. This is where he famously got a hole in one on the wrong hole! He also enjoyed going out to eat and frequented many local area restaurants. When he came in you knew what he drank and not to take away his glass until the last drop was gone. He enjoyed his favorite cocktail of grey goose and chocolate milk until his last day. He rode his Cadillac into the sunset surrounded by his granddaughter and great grandchildren whom he adored. He never let anyone piss on his boots!
Ernie is survived by his daughter, Kathleen; his son, Patrick, Patrick’s wife Chris, and their son Jack; his granddaughter Billie Lee, her husband Keith, and their children Lillian and Dominic; his granddaughter Hannah and also dear friend Tom Dunn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and his son, William. Ernie will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at the Chiampa Funeral Home, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 9:30 A.M to 11:00 A.M. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
