Shrewsbury – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucas Dana Kronlund on July 21, 2024. Born at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester on March 14, 1992, he was riding the motorcycle of which he was so proud when he lost control and had a tragic accident.

The second son of Kenneth Kronlund Jr. and Susan Desrochers Kronlund, he is survived by his older brother Eric (and his fiancée Megan Thibault) as well as his younger brother Jared. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Kenneth & Elaine Kronlund and Roland & Jacqueline Desrochers, as well as his aunt, Cheryl Kronlund Flynn and his cousin, Evan Flynn. His loss is mourned by his aunts and uncles, Craig Kronlund (Beth), Lisa (Kronlund) Swanson (Doug), Raymond Desrochers, Dennis Desrochers (Missy), Jason Desrochers (Tammy), and Sharron Desrochers, as well as fourteen cousins.

A graduate of Shrewsbury High school, he was an outstanding skier, captain of the Ski Team, and successful as a pole vaulter, finishing 2nd in a district competition. He graduated from UMaine with a degree in marketing and management with a minor in entrepreneurship. He was f the UMaine pre-law society, active in campus politics (and ran for president!), participated in multiple campus activities, and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He worked as a project manager for Kenefick Construction and received a master’s in construction management from Wentworth last year. He currently held a position as a Business Development Executive at Associated Energy Developers, where he and his best friend and business partner Yohane have been working on several large-scale Solar, Battery, and Green Hydrogen infrastructure projects and property development across several U.S. and International locations.

As a baby, he would often wake up singing, and his joy spread to those he brought into his inner circle. He really loved his family, including his extended family. His childhood was filled with adventures in Maine at Square Pond and Sunday River, where he would encourage all to catch the first chair. He was devoted to his grandmothers and was always eager to show his support or embark on adventures with his cousins, which took him to Upstate NY, Ireland, and Florida to name a few. Lucas loved to travel and meet new friends. He traveled to Thailand and spent weeks with his friends Joe and Emmi, traveled to climb cliffs at Red Rocks with friends from Orono, and toured Alaska and Mexico. He cruised the Mediterranean with his immediate family where (of course) he made new friends, inspiring them to take side tours to “incredible” spaces, off the beaten path, sometimes returning to the ship with moments to spare before sailing!

Lucas had a personality that family, friends, and associates will always remember. The same willingness that served him perfectly to excel as a ski racer, as he pushed himself to the limits and visualized lofty goals, encouraged others around him to challenge themselves as well, for his enthusiasm was infectious. He was known by many as a loyal friend who was full of love, humor, happiness, adventure, support and ultimately joy. He will be missed by all whom he touched in his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the SkiWard Race team, which supports budding ski racers, or to Habitat for Humanity. Donations to SWRT can be made via the SkiWard Race Team Web site at SkiWardRaceTeam.com/Donations; Donations to the Greater Worcester Habitat for Humanity can be made at HabitatMWGW.CharityProud.org/Donate.
