SHREWSBURY – An industrial park slated for Clinton Street has been approved by the Planning Board.
During their Aug. 1 meeting, the Planning Board approved the site plan, reserve parking spaces and special permit for the project.
Located at 142 Clinton St., the project calls for two warehouses on about 100 acres of Worcester Sand and Stone land. The development will include a 515,000-square-foot building and a 375,000-square-foot building along with about 500 parking spaces and 170 loading docks.
The developer is 160 Holden Street LLC, an affiliate of Boston-based developer GFI Partners LLC.
During the board’s last meeting in July, members had requested information regarding access to emergency water through the city of Worcester. The site is located within the Aquifer Protection Overlay District, and residents have asked questions about preserving drinking water during past meetings.
Director of Planning and Economic Development Christopher McGoldrick shared documents with the board, which he said authorized the town access to Worcester’s water.
He said the project called for providing a new sewer main along Holden Street that would allow several homes to connect to sewer “thereby improving the local source protection of the aquifer.”
