MARLBOROUGH – Construction at the exit ramps for Routes 290 and 495 will cause some traffic disruption this week.
Detours, which began on Sunday, Aug. 4, will continue overnight through Thursday, Aug. 8.
The ramps from 290 eastbound and Route 85 eastbound to 495 northbound will be closed each night until Thursday starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 5 a.m. the following day.
During the overnight work, drivers traveling on Route 290 eastbound and Route 85 westbound looking to access Route 495 northbound will be directed to take 495 southbound and use exit 63A (Route 20 eastbound) to access 495 northbound.
In addition, the ramps from the Mass Turnpike to southbound 495 will also be closed in Westborough and Hopkinton amid an ongoing overhaul of the interchange between the two freeways.
During the work, when the 495 southbound on-ramp from Route 90 eastbound and westbound are closed, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signs and use 495 northbound to exit 59B (Route 9 westbound), to reverse direction back to 495 southbound.
Additionally, utility crews will be performing daytime electrical work on the Fruit Street bridge on Aug. 7 and 8. The relocation work and outages is scheduled to take place during the day between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Fruit Street will only be open to local traffic between North Street and Saddle Hill Road.
