Rimkus: Hudson musicians releases new album

HUDSON – “Gone,” an independent-release album by Hudson musician Jack Colaianni, is now available on Spotify and YouTube.

Although the 28-year old acoustic guitar player and singer has performed with several rock bands and composed rock-n-roll music, he said his “Gone” folk-music album has “softer songs.”

“About a year ago I began to think about the love I have for my life, the work that I do, and the town [Hudson] that I grew up in, and the ‘Gone’ songs resulted,” the teacher-musician said.

Colaianni said he was about 10 years old when his father, John Colaianni, taught him to play the alto saxophone, and he learned power chords on acoustic guitar from his uncle, Bill Rubino. A 2014 graduate of Hudson High School, he appeared in school productions of “The Producers” and “Godspell,” and also organized his first band, “13 Waffles Later.” While with “Odds for the Ageless,” he performed at the former Harvest Café (now Kith n Kin). A few years ago, his punk rock band “Local Cult,” got good reviews on Boston blogs after playing at “Charlie’s Kitchen” in Cambridge.

The son of John and Ginny Colaianni, and grandson of Mary Rubino, all of Hudson, Jack holds a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State College and his master’s from Lesley University. In his “day job,” he heads an after-school program and is a pre-school teacher at the Learning Center in Hopkinton.

Keep singing and composing Jack!
