Westborough – Edward “Ted” Norman Brady, 87 of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 29, 1936, in Hudson, Massachusetts, to Robert and Rachel (Noon) Brady. His mother Rachel passed away shortly after Ted’s birth and her sister Grace (Noon) Brady married Robert and adopted and raised Ted as her own.

Ted was predeceased by his parents, Robert Brady, Rachel (Noon) Brady, Grace (Noon) Brady, his wife Shirley Brady as well as his daughter Donna (Brady) Wright and his son Steven Brady. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Gerry & Paula Brady (Shrewsbury), his son Joe Brady (Grafton), his son in law Peter Wright (Florida) and his “adopted daughter” Lisa Allain (Westborough). Ted was the proud grandfather of Rachel, Jesse, Melissa, Jessica, Robert, Jacob and Nicholas. However his greatest joys called him “Great Grandpa”: Emma, Brody, Reese, Jude, Camille, Carson & Mikenna. Ted also leaves behind his loving sister & brother in law Donald & Barbara (Brady) Banks (Westborough), and their children, Kim, Lisa and Drew.

Graduating from Northboro High School, Ted attended night classes in Cabinetry making Worcester Boys Trade. Ted was a very skilled carpenter and cabinet maker. He was self-employed by Colonial Woodworking and worked for the Town of Westborough’s DPW. Ted loved annual hunting trips in upstate New York with his sons and good friends. His favorite pass times included fishing, camping, traveling, gardening and his regular visits to the “health club” (aka JP’s Pub) where he could always find a CC and water waiting for him.

He was a stubborn Irishman to the end, proud of his heritage Ted always had a story to tell. He was a jokester, a devoted caretaker, a proud father, a loving great/grandfather, and a friend to many.

His time spent at Mount Pleasant Home (Jamaica Plain) proved to be some of his most meaningful years. He made some very special friends (Deidra & Vinny), opened his mind to learning and accepting new things and showed us all that it’s never too late to teach a dog new tricks.

The Brady family is forever grateful for the loving care that Ted received from the staff at Mount Pleasant Home, Shrewsbury Nursing Home & Hospice.

A celebration of Ted’s life service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 3 John Street, Westborough, MA. Burial in St. Maichael’s Cemetery, Hudson, will take place privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the Jewish Healthcare Hospice via www.jhccenter.org or to the Shrewsbury Nursing Home, 40 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
