South Grafton – Richard P. Chiasson, 89, of South Grafton, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by his companion of 10 years Peggy Blake of Wrentham; 5 daughters; Carol Warren and her husband Brian of Northboro; Sue Bicknell of Millbury; Judy Davies and her husband Donald of Northboro; Terry Chiros and her husband Richard of S. Grafton; and Jean Bachen and her husband Duncan of Mount Royal, New Jersey; 9 grandchildren: Katie, Nicholas, Brandon and his wife Shannon Warren, Marc and Stephanie Bicknell, Michaela Davies, Alicia (Davies) and her husband Nate Horlick, and Quinn and Alia Bachen; and a great grandchild, Harper Bicknell. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Chiasson in 1978.
Born in Waltham, Ma on October 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Alexander John and Elizabeth G. (Caron) Chiasson. Richard grew up in Waltham and graduated from Waltham High School. He moved to Hudson, MA in 1963 where he raised his family and remained until 1985 before moving to Salem, NH. After a period of declining health in 2012 he moved in with his daughter Terry.
Richard worked for 38 years as an appliance repairman for Sears Robuck and Company. He always played in a band, from Country Western with his steel guitar, to Bluegrass on his multiple Dobroes. Richard played Bluegrass at Willowbrook Restaurant in Mendon for many years. He enjoyed trains, and his first job was driving a train at Norumbega Park.
Richard was a member on the Pelham, NH fish and game club where he enjoyed target shooting.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Willowbrook Restaurant on 16 Hastings Street in Mendon MA on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
