Northborough – David G. “Uncle Buck” Gauvin, a lifelong resident of Northborough, passed away on August 19, 2024 at Beaumont of Westborough, after a period of declining health. He was 86.

He leaves his loving sister, Maureen (Gauvin) Shea, several nieces, nephews, cousins, a dear friend Jane Fletcher, longtime neighbors, Frank Brown, Jeff and Mary Dragon. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Evy and Elizabeth (Friars) Gauvin. David is predeceased by his brother Harvey Gauvin.

David graduated from Northborough High School class of 1956 and Worcester Jr. College. He worked in the construction industry as a Business Manager/Superintendent for the Pullman Co. based in N.J., Peabody N.E. Inc., and for Northeastern Construction Co., Inc.

Mr. Gauvin proudly served his country in the U.S Air Force Security Service. His memberships included: Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the former Northborough Fish & Game, Marlborough Fish & Game, American Legion Post #234 and St. Rose of Lima Parish. Uncle Buck loved hunting in the Berkshires and fishing on Cape Cod. He enjoyed annual vacations with family and close friends in Eastham. David traveled all over the world making new friends wherever he went. Buck was a practical joker sporting his ponytail and earring. He was extremely thoughtful, often giving gifts to family and friends wrapped in the weekly “funnies” using loads of packing tape. He will forever be missed for his fun-loving ways.

Thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at Beaumont of Westborough and Salmon Hospice who joked and bantered with him which is what he loved to do.

A calling hour will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, 10:00-11:00AM followed by a funeral at 11:00AM in Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough. Burial with military honors will follow at Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
