SHREWSBURY – The Shrewsbury Historical Society will host a tour of two historic barns on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Tour participants will gather at the 1830 Brick School to board the free shuttle to the sites.
Enjoy a rare opportunity to step inside the historic General Artemas Ward House Museum Barn to view 18th- and 19th century agricultural architecture. Learn about who owned the barn and why it is so big. Ward family farm tools and vehicles will be on display.

Then travel to another iconic New England barn, built in 1805, located at Hyemeadow Farm. This landmark gives us a glimpse of the past and the present. Once used for farming and housing livestock, it now serves as a gathering place, woodshop and art studio.

Hourlong tours depart from the 1830 Brick School at 1, 2 and 3 p.m., returning to the 1830 Brick School.

No walk-up admission or parking available at either barn.

Plan to arrive at the 1830 Brick School at least five minutes before departure to confirm reservation and board the van. Vans will depart promptly.
