Westborough – Robert John Hare, known affectionately to friends and family as Bob, passed away on September 21, 2024, after a short illness. He was born on May 2, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, and took his last breath peacefully in Westboro, MA, at 78.
Bob loved spending time with his “dog friends” circle, sharing stories, and bragging about his string of dogs.
Bob leaves behind his beloved dog Moses, who is now enjoying his retirement from hunting with longtime dear friends Gary and Lori Conrad of Northbridge, MA. His sisters, Kathleen Hare of Weymouth, MA, and Janice Bagwell of Killingworth, CT. Bob also held a special place in the heart of his nephew, Jeff Bagwell of Houston, TX, and his former wife, Catherine (White) Hare of Newton, MA, with whom she shared many of life’s significant moments.
Bob was the proud owner of Bob Hare Sports in Newton, MA, and later, the Tennis & Squash Shop in Cambridge, MA. His entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering dedication to his craft earned him respect and admiration within the community.
Bob was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast. In his early years, he excelled in baseball and hockey, and later in life, he relished spending time in nature with his beloved dogs. His friends could always count on him for lively discussions, dog training tips, and the intricacies of history and politics.
As we bid farewell to Bob, we celebrate the life of a man who touched so many with his friendly spirit, thoughtful nature, and insightful conversations. Bob’s journey through life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures, the friendships he cherished, and the love of his dogs. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.
In remembrance of Bob, let us remember stories and laughter echoing through the lives he touched. A prayer service will be held on October 19th at 11:00 AM at Buma Funeral Homes, 480 Church St Whitinsville, MA 01588. All are welcome.
