Flying High Dogs
Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 to 10:45 a.m., Bay State Commons, Westborough. Sponsored by the Westborough Public Library. Mike Piazza is a world record holder and multiple-time world finalist in K9 frisbee. Piazza and his four flying-high Frisbee dogs are the #1 dog entertainment act in the world. Please do not bring pets to the show.
Colonial Faire and Fife & Drum Muster
Saturday, Sept. 28, Longfellow’s Wayside Inn. Faire opens at 10 a.m. with a Colonial encampment, militia and crafts demonstrations, children’s games and contradancing. In addition to dozens of Colonial and craft vendors, there will be 25 fife and drum corps from across New England and New York. The grand parade of fifes and drums will begin at noon. Admission: $3 for general public at the gate.
Spirit of Shrewsbury
Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29. Events on Sept. 28 include Shrewsbury’s Got Talent (10 a.m., St. John’s High School); live anthem/pie-eating contest (noon, St. John’s); and the Sweetheart Pageant (6 p.m., St. John’s School Theater). There will also be 100 exhibitors on the high school grounds. The parade will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. It will start at Municipal Drive and go to Oak Street Middle School. There will be food trucks at the middle school. Organized by the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival Committee.

Friendship Dinner
Saturday, Sept. 28, 5 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 34 Felton St., Hudson. A community dinner served to everyone. There is no cost, but a freewill donation is taken. Contact the church administrator at 978-562-2932.
Friends of the Hudson Public Library Lobster and Meat Shoot
Saturday, Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m., Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 3 Palmieri Drive, Hudson. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The game of “shoot” uses playing cards. It is similar to Keno or bingo, and you have the opportunity to win prizes of fresh lobster and steak. There will be a cash bar, basket drawings and a 50/50 cash raffle.
The Friends of the Library supports passes to farms, museums, zoos and other venues. The group also purchases equipment and supports the summer reading programs.
Admission to the VFW Hall is free, and card sets for the games will be sold at the door.
Harvest Fair and Apple Pie Social
The 45th annual Harvest Fair and Apple Pie Social, hosted by the Congregational Church of Grafton, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the church grounds, at 30 Grafton Common. Admission is free to this family-friendly event, and it is rain or shine.
The event will include homemade fresh apple pies and crisps; hot dogs, hamburgers, meatball subs, corn chowder, chili and beverages; a yard sale with household items, toys, jewelry, clothing and more; books for all ages; raffle baskets; silent auction items, including a handmade doll house; children’s activities, including a bounce house; and live musical performances.
First organized in 1980, this annual event is a fundraiser for the many missions and charities that the church supports.

EV Expo
The annual Get Charged Up EV Expo will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Amazon Robotics parking lot, 50 Otis St.
The expo is a free community event co-hosted by the Westborough Rotary Club and Sustainable Westborough. It brings together electric vehicle owners and community members who may be interested in making a transition to an electric vehicle at their next opportunity.
Visitors are invited and encouraged to have one-on-one conversations with EV owners.

Historical Society Open House
Sunday, Sept. 29, 2 to 4 p.m., Sibley House, 13 Parkman St., Westborough. This special event highlights the 300th anniversary of the Congregational Church of Westborough. Learn about the town’s early history, including the first church and minister. All are welcome.
Kickoff Party for Fire Foundation
Sunday, Sept. 29, 4 to 7 p.m., Arturo’s Ristorante, East Main Street, Westborough. $50 per person, including appetizers and one complimentary drink, cash bar and silent auction. Learn about the organization to help provide financial assistance for programs and equipment for the Westborough Fire Department.

Applefest Fireworks
Sunday, Sept. 29, 5 to 8 p.m., Algonquin Regional High School. The fireworks are set to take place at 7 p.m., though the community is invited to come early to get your spot on the grass and enjoy food at the event. Parking is $20 per car. This is a weather permitting event.
