Grafton – Norman R. Lauria, 90, passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2024. Born in Somerville, MA, Norm was the son of the late Hazel (Cunningham) and Frank Lauria. His loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine (MacKay) Lauria predeceased him in 2013.

Moving to Grafton when he was young, he became very involved and well connected in the community. An avid sport lover, he enjoyed coaching his boys little league teams and he played on an adult softball team for many years. He also took great pleasure playing basketball in the driveway with his boys and grandchildren. Norm loved to golf and did so often. A great organizer, he was the president of his golf league. In the last few years he was happy to join a bowling league with his son and grandson. A loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, he rarely missed a game.

As a faithful parishioner at St. James church, Norm was involved for many years with the Bereavement Committee and The Annual Harvest Fair. His boys would joke about “Norm’s taxi” as he frequently drove friends and family to appointments and just about anywhere anyone needed to go including the monthly Thursday morning breakfast at Blackstone Valley Regional Tech High School.

By trade, Norman worked in Shipping and Receiving for R & A Machine, Worcester and County Heat Treat in Millbury for many years. He was fortunate to enjoy a long healthy retirement. He and Gerri looked forward to their annual trips to Poland Springs, Maine, where they enjoyed the fall foliage. Norman also looked forward to time with family and friends and always looked forward to a good meal with the people he loved.

He leaves his three sons, Stephen R. Lauria, Scott M. Lauria and his wife Pamela, and Paul J. Lauria and his wife Lori; his grandchildren Jeffrey and Shaun Lauria, Ashley Langella, Nicholas and Jesse Lauria and 3 great-grandchildren who gave him great joy: Benjamin and Payton Lauria and Julian Langella, who will all dearly miss their beloved “Papa Norman”. He also leaves his companion of 10 years Anita Hudson and many friends.

All are welcome to gather with Norman’s family and friends Thursday October 3rd from 9:00-11:30am at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by the celebration of his Funeral Mass at 12pm at St. James Church 89 Main St. S. Grafton, MA 01560. He will then be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
