Grafton – Carolyn R. (Bessom) Sjogren, 89, passed away October 10, 2024 at home following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband of 66 years Robert Sjogren predeceased her in February of 2024.

Carolyn leaves her sons Michael and his wife Linda, Jerry and his wife Nancy, her daughter Diane Coz and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Kenneth Sjogren, her brother Dr. Robert Bessom and her first husband Paul Flanagan who was lost at sea in 1955.

Carolyn was born in Swampscott, MA, daughter of the late Ruth (Young) and Richard Bessom. Her roots were there but she spent most of her life in Grafton with her husband Bob and their family. Carolyn loved Grafton and engaging with her many friends in town and those she met at work.

She was an Executive Secretary for the Town of Grafton for many years and then was a Realtor with Anderson Associates which suited her energy and the joy of being with and helping others perfectly.

Away from work she cherished time with family above all else, traveling, and as a young girl she enjoyed being near the coast sailing at King’s Beach in Swampscott while later in life she loved being at the family’s lake home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. For many years she and her husband Bob were active members at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in North Grafton.

A private graveside interment will be scheduled at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers please honor Carolyn with a donation to support patient care to VNA Hospice and Palliative Care Fund Development Office, 67 Millbrook Street, 500 North Worcester, MA 01606 or to the MA/NH Alzheimer’s Association at http://alz.org.
