MARLBOROUGH – Residents enrolled in the municipal aggregation program continue to save money, according to the latest statistics.

During the City Council meeting on Monday, Oct. 7, Councilor Sean Navin said that during the second quarter of its approved, fixed-price contract with First Point Power, residents saved $884,768 over the basic service rate from National Grid.

The aggregation rate – $0.14150 per kilowatt hour (kWhr) – will remain in effect through the meter readings in November 2025.

In contrast, National Grid’s service rate was 0.18213 per kWhr through July; 0.16055 per kWhr from August through January 2025.

In a letter to the City Council, Navin and Council President Michael Ossing wrote, “The city contract with First Point Power provides 100% renewable energy (meets the Massachusetts renewable energy requirement of 62% plus 38% National Wind Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)). The savings are even greater when compared to the National Grid Green options.”
