Robinsons Hardware closing Oct. 31

HUDSON – After 150 years in business, Robinsons Hardware on Washington Street is about to sell its last hammer and rent its last tablecloth.

The operation that’s been run by the Underwood family since 1963 plans to close its Hudson and Framingham locations; the last day for Hudson will be Thursday, Oct. 31.

In a social media post, Kim Underwood, vice president of Robinsons, cited several reasons behind the closure.

“The economy, the big-box competition, lack of or abundance of seasonal weather and a number of other factors have for all intents and purposes hamstrung us over the last two years,” said Underwood.

“Our employees at both stores have worked so hard and with so much passion hoping that things would turn around, making the decision to close the doors a really hard one.”

Underwood said that until the closure, “I would only ask all you good folks stop by the store and wish us all well. If you’ve been eyeing that lawnmower or snowblower or whatever, we would appreciate the opportunity to serve you one last time and go out on a high note.”
