Jean M. BowserAlfred, Maine – Jean Marie (Cappadona) Bowser, 76, of Alfred, Maine, formerly of Waltham and Marlboro, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly at her home on October 12, 2024.

Born on July 22, 1948, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Jean was the beloved daughter of Benny and Ann (Mammola) Cappadona. She grew up in Waltham, where she attended local schools and graduated from Waltham High School in 1966. After high school, Jean continued her education at St. Aquinas Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts, where she earned a degree in Medical Administration, a field in which she would dedicate much of her career.

In 1971, Jean married the love of her life, William E. Bowser. Together, they built a life in Marlboro, Massachusetts until William’s passing in 2016. Jean later retired and moved to Alfred, Maine, where she embraced a quieter life surrounded by nature.

Jean was a woman of many passions. She found great joy in pottery and ceramics, creating beautiful pieces with her hands. She loved the beach and spent many peaceful moments near the ocean. A voracious reader, she was often found with a book in hand. Jean also enjoyed candlepin bowling, a pastime she cherished throughout her life.

Her love for her family was paramount. Jean held strong family values and was deeply devoted to her siblings, nieces, nephews, and their children. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, and she found peace and happiness in tending to her flowers. Holidays, especially Christmas, were a magical time for her, as she adored decorating and celebrating with loved ones.

Jean will be remembered as a kind, loving woman with a heart that touched many lives. Her friends and family will miss her deeply, especially those who were fortunate to experience her warmth and generosity.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Benny and Ann, her husband William, and her niece and goddaughter, Ann Margaret (Fischer) Coates.

She is survived by her five siblings: Nancy Cappadona Fischer and her husband Steven of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; Carol Cappadona of Waltham, Massachusetts; Bart Cappadona of Waltham, Massachusetts; Brett Cappadona of Hopkinton, Massachusetts; and Bob Cappadona and his wife Joan of Centerville, Massachusetts. She is also survived by seven cherished nieces and nephews: Ken Fischer (Erin), Amanda Connolly (Luke), Bryanna Cappadona, Brian Cappadona, Bobby Cappadona, James Cappadona, and Sarah Cappadona, along with several grand-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12:45p on Monday, November 4th at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Jean’s memory are invited to make a contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to her heart.

Arrangements are under the care of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

Jean’s kindness, her laughter, and her love for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
