NORTHBOROUGH – The Northborough Fire Department imposed a fire ban on Nov. 4 following a briefing from the state fire warden and fire marshal regarding the “extremely high brush fire conditions” in the area.
“Due to a lack of precipitation, fallen leaves and winds, we are in a heightened risk situation where small fires can escalate rapidly,” the department wrote in a press release.

As part of the ban, all outside open burning is prohibited, including fires in fire pits, chimneas and outdoor fireplaces. The ban also affects cooking and heating equipment that is not covered under the Open Burning regulation.
The ban will be in effect through at least Nov. 8. Call 911 to report any outside brush fire.
