SOUTHBOROUGH – Southborough police took a Worcester man into custody at the Red Roof Inn on a warrant for his arrest.

According to a press release from the Southborough Police Department, officers were called to investigate an incident at the Red Roof Inn on Turnpike Road at 5 a.m. Nov. 5.

One of the parties – Jonathan Tufts-Raymond, of Worcester – had an active warrant for his arrest for probation violation stemming from federal charges involving an alleged armed bank robbery and multiple firearm-related violations.

According to a 2014 article in the Telegram & Gazette, authorities said Tufts-Raymond and Krystian Gubernat were involved in several robberies at supermarkets, financial institutions and a jewelry store, including at Citizens Bank in Shrewsbury.

Southborough officers took Tufts-Raymond into custody to be transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and brought before a federal judge.
