NORTHBOROUGH/WESTBOROUGH – The annual Scouting for Food drive will take place on Nov. 9.
As part of Northborough’s event, Boy Scouts, Scouts USA, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts will collect food donations for the Northborough Food Pantry. Last year, over 11,000 items were donated, and organizers are hoping 12,000 or more items are donated this year.
To donate, fill a bag with food, personal care items and/or paper products. Please do not donate expired items. Leave the bag by the front door or mailbox by 9 a.m. on Nov. 9 for the Scouts to pick up.
Westborough
Similarly in Westborough, local Cub Scouts will be going door to door starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, to pick up food donations for the Westborough Food Pantry.
The pantry’s wish list items include beef stew, soups, chili, pasta sauce, rice pilaf, instant potatoes, canned kidney beans, salad dressing, tuna, laundry and dish detergent (small sizes), crackers and cookies, and any other nonperishable food items.
None of the items should be expired or damaged. Participants should leave their bagged donations on the front stoop or end of the driveway for scouts to collect.
Bags not picked up by 12:30 p.m. may be dropped at the fire station, Roche Brothers or the Lyman Street Stop & Shop.
Donations will be delivered to the food pantry for sorting and distribution.
