MARLBOROUGH – Marlborough, USA, and Akiruno, Japan, have once again come together to celebrate their longstanding and cherished sister city relationship.
Seven Whitcomb Middle School students were fully immersed in Japanese culture in Akiruno. These students have experienced everyday life alongside their Japanese peers, attending classes, participating in sports, giving performances, touring local landmarks and embracing family life. They’ve even put their budding Japanese language skills to the test by delivering speeches in Japanese.
Accompanying them were Assistant Principal Eileen Hurley and teacher Andrew Thain, who have been keeping advisor Jennifer Smith updated on the group’s inspiring journey. The students returned to Marlborough on Nov. 1.
