Shrewsbury – Maria (Pimentel) Cazares, 62 of Shrewsbury, formerly of California and Mexico passed away unexpectedly at home, Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Maria was born December 18, 1961, in Michoacan, Mexico one of seven children of Jose and Angelina (Valencia) Pimentel. Educated, and raised in Mexico, Maria immigrated to the United States in 1978. She then married Jose D. Cazares, in 1979. They settled in California to begin, raising their family with love, faith and dedication.
Along with her husband, her children always came first in her life no matter what. She was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them, especially her beautiful grandchildren throughout her life. With her delicious Mexican delicacies, love and recipes, Maria, founded the El Patron restaurant in 2015, where she owned, operated and cared for her customers. Maria was also instrumental in assisting and guiding her sons, establish “Pepe’s Taqueria” in Tatnuck Square.
Maria is survived by her husband, Jose D. Cazares; five children she cherished and was so proud of, Mirna Cazares of Shrewsbury, Jose M. Cazares and his wife Erica of Paxton, Rafael Cazares and his wife Amanda of Worcester, Eduardo Cazares, Gerardo Cazares and his wife Daniela all of Shrewsbury; two brothers, and three sisters both in the United States and Mexico; eight grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Maria was a member of St Peters Church. A beautiful person, Maria enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; working, spending time with family and friends, cooking, and family dinners, laughter, and dancing. Maria was a strong, hardworking women, who loved to help anyone who needed it, making people laugh and seeing the bright spot in any situation. She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important and had room in her heart for everyone she met. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through life’s challenges. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
A period of calling hours will be held Sunday, November 24th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm followed by her funeral service at 4 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be private.
