March 11, 1986 – Nov. 14, 2024
Shrewsbury – Jonathan “Jon” Gustav Stadig, 38, of Shrewsbury, MA, passed away tragically on November 14, 2024. Born March 11, 1986, in Worcester, MA, Jon was the first-born child to Diane J. Caron and Edward M. Stadig.
Jon attended St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, MA, where he participated in wrestling and football. He attended UConn for two years before transferring to Worcester State University, where he earned his BS in Business Administration.
Jon was awarded an MS in Accounting from Boston College in 2010 and began his career as an auditor for Deloitte. Following his time at Deloitte, Jon specialized in Internal Audit. He worked at various public and private organizations, most recently serving as Deputy Director of Audit and Oversight for the Office of Inspector General for the Commonwealth of MA.
Jon was actively involved in his community. He volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern MA, serving as a Big Brother to Alex for over ten years, and sat on their Junior Board of Directors. Jon was a Brighton Elks Lodge No. 2199 member and served as their Exalted Ruler between 2020 and 2022. Most recently, Jon joined the Scandinavian Athletic Club, where he was a member for the past two years.
More important than any of his personal or professional accolades was the person that Jonathan was. He was kind, thoughtful, engaging and went above and beyond to make every single person he met feel like the most important person in the room. Jonathan was not motivated by attention, fame, or fortune. He was a friend to all and tried to find the good in all people and all situations. The number of people’s lives he impacted is countless, and his legacy of kindness, humility, and patience will forever live on. To know him was to love him.
A celebration of life will be planned for 2025, and in lieu of flowers, donations, etc., please use your resources to help someone in need during the holiday season. In addition, if you have a special story about Jon or pictures you would like to share, please send them to his sister, Stephanie Stadig, who will be putting together a scrapbook to remember Jonathan’s legacy. Jonathan leaves his parents, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who loved him dearly for his tenacity, exuberance for life, and sense of humor.
There will be a Celebration of Life planned in 2025 to honor Jon. Please continue to watch the Chiampa Funeral Home of Shrewsbury for updated information.
