Hudson – Duarte M. Cabral, 68, of Hudson, MA, died on November 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus after a long period of declining health.
Eddy was born and raised in Santa Maria, Azores Portugal, He was son of late Joao Cabral and Alexandrina (Fernades) Chaves-Cabral. He immigrated to the United States in 1973 settling in Hudson, MA. He was employed as a machinist with Accumet Engineering in Hudson, MA until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club and Saint Michael Parish in Hudson, MA.
Eddy leaves behind his 2 sons, Edward Cabral and his long time partner Mikyla Santiago of Marlborough, MA, John Duarte Cabral, his wife Alexia Cabral and their son John Duarte Cabral Jr of Hopkinton, MA; his 3 brothers, Jose Cabral and his wife Maria, Angelo Cabral and his wife Lucy, Silvino Cabral and his wife Aura, all of Hudson, MA; his 2 sisters, Laura Moreira of Hudson, MA, Angelina Freitas and her husband Manuel of Hudson along with his 4 grandchildren, John Duarte Cabral Jr, Edward Joseph Cabral Jr, Gabriella Cabral and Avayah Cabral. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Fatima Cabral, wife of the late Antonio Cabral of Hudson, MA; sister-in-law Sandra Cabral, wife of the late Jorge Cabral of Hudson, MA and his many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
Eddy always enjoyed life. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren for walks, cooking for his family, having a good time and his wine. His unique personality was infectious to all his relatives and friends. He would gather with his nieces and nephews for parties and gatherings entertaining them and all their friends even though he was much older. He enjoyed a variety of music listening to classic rock, rock & roll and Portuguese ethnic tunes. He looked forward to long rides on his electric bike.
He always cherished the times spent with his family, especially later with his grandchildren. When he was younger he treated his two sons to many camping, beach and fishing trips. Cape Cod, Salisbury and Hampton Beach were their favorites as they all loved the ocean. He leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, compassion and fun times for all to remember.
Family and friends may gather for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in Saint Michael Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson, MA on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 10:00am. Urn burial will follow in Saint Michael Cemetery, Cox Street, Hudson, MA.
