Rimkus: Hudson native installed into Norwich University Hall of Fame

HUDSON – Hudson native James “Jim” Patterson was installed in the Norwich University “Athletic Hall of Fame” recently. A graduate of Hudson High School in 1970 and Norwich in 1974, the Florida resident and his wife, Wendy, traveled to the Vermont college for the Hall of Fame weekend.

Patterson credited his “successful high school football career coached by former Holy Cross great Vic Rimkus;” also the late Elizabeth McQuillan, Hudson High vice-principal, and Norwich representatives, for guiding his enrollment choice. At Norwich he played football, acted with the Pegasus Players and participated in student government.

During his acceptance speech, Patterson mentioned Hudson resident John Walsh, a 2024 Norwich grad’s “Hudson Happ’nings” news story, for inclusion in a time capsule to be retrieved at Walsh’s 50th class reunion in 2074.

Patterson noted that several family members have Norwich degrees, including his wife, Wendy, their children, Molly, Katie and Tyler. A former Florence street resident, Patterson is the son of the late Otty and Rita Patterson.

Congratulations Jim!

Members of the Hudson Catholic High School class of 1964 recently gathered at the Bolton Street Tavern, Marlborough, to observe the 60th anniversary of their graduation. Fourteen of the 63 graduates attended, coming from as far away as North Carolina and Ellsworth, Maine. During the evening of reminiscing, they observed a moment of silence for 18 classmates who have passed away. They also played a Trivia game and held a raffle. Several classmates brought memorabilia from school days, including a “Green Wave” school banner, school uniform “beanie,” old pictures and newspaper articles from various events.
