Northborough – Frances A. Kingman, 81, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, after a period of declining health.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Francis and Eileen (LaBonte) Mele, Frances earned a BA in Economics from Merrimack College, where she met her future husband Raymond, whom she married in 1964.
For over 50 years, Frances made Northborough her home. She dedicated many years to raising her family and was an active member of the Northboro Junior Women’s Club, serving as its president from 1981-1982. In the mid-1980s, Frances began her career as an Executive Secretary for Central New England College and the Rob Roy Companies in Worcester. She later worked as a Medical Secretary in the Plastic Surgery department at UMass Memorial Healthcare, retiring in 2013 after 23 years of service.
Frances was deeply involved in her grandchildren’s lives, attending their concerts, school assemblies, and sporting events. She had a passion for reading and in recent years enjoyed reorganizing the Whitney Place library and restarting a book club there.
Frances is survived by her three children: Matthew R. Kingman of Boston; Kimberly R. Mullen and her husband Christopher of Shrewsbury; and Sarah E. Richardson of Northborough. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Cameron J. Mullen of Easthampton, NY; Zachary M. Provencal of Northborough; and Claire E. Mullen of Shrewsbury. Frances is also survived by her sister, Paula J. Hutton and her husband William of Howland, ME; her sister-in-law Gail A. Hall and her husband Gerard of Lynn; and her cousin Maryann Cardillo of Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Kingman.
A gathering to remember and celebrate Frances’s life will take place at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 18th, at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough.
Frances’s family wishes to thank the staff at Whitney Place and Beaumont of Northborough for their compassion and care for Frances during her last years.
