WESTBOROUGH – Local agencies have reached out to the nearly 100 families displaced by the fire at the Arrive apartment complex on Monday, Dec. 9.

The town’s elementary schools and parents’ groups are conducting a gift card drive. Gift cards – Walmart and Target – may be brought to the WPS Central Office at the Forbes Municipal Center.

At Armstrong Elementary, those wishing to make a monetary donation may use Venmo and send to @ArmstrongElementaryAPG; please denote that it is to benefit the Arrive families in the comment section.

Families have also been assisted by the Red Cross, the Westborough Fire Department, the Westborough director of public health, and Arrive management.

In addition, Gurdwara Sahib, the Sikh temple on Flanders Road, spent the past few days preparing two meals per day for the displaced residents.

Although the fire was confined to part of one apartment unit, there was water damage to much of the south wing of the apartment building. All 177 units in that part of the building were affected.

Damage is currently estimated at $2 million.

As of Friday, Dec. 13, the families are being allowed to move back to their residences.
