Karen J. ConlonSutton – Karen J. (Cooper) Conlon, 78, passed away peacefully December 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Worcester to Alton and Bernice (Bertrand) Cooper, Karen was raised in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1964. She worked for many years in office administration. She especially enjoyed her time with Lord Corporation and Reale Fitzgerald.

Karen was the beloved wife of 59 years to Donald C. Conlon. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Carl A. Conlon (Barbara), Philip J. Conlon, Jeffrey L. Conlon (Lynn) and Lynn-Ann McMahon (Ethan). Her greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by her entire family, and especially playing games with her grandchildren Benjamin Conlon (Hallie Sacks), Jacob Conlon (Jamie), Bridget Conlon, Hannah Donovan (Patrick), Jared McMahon (Marissa), Kayla McMahon (Sulayman Coulibaly), Nathan McMahon and Makenna Barron. She treasured her five great grandchildren Lukas, Riley, Griffin, Rhys and Rowan.

Karen was predeceased by her sisters, Sandra (Cooper) Girouard and Barbara (Cooper) Brown. She remained close to her nieces and nephews and always felt maintaining family connections was important.

Karen had an energy about her; she liked to be “doing.” She was an avid crafter – knitting, crocheting, ceramics, watercolor and papercraft. She loved to try new things and new recipes. She took pride in the special afghans she made for her children and grandchildren for birthdays and weddings. She liked organ music and played her home organ with gusto for her own pleasure. Karen and Don were square dancers in their younger years and later switched to traveling around the country with friends or family, seeing the national landmarks and regional museums. Karen enjoyed summers at the coast watching sailboats, planting flowers, and playing games – cribbage, cards, and Mahjong. She will be missed by many.

Family and friends are invited to remember Karen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, Dec. 22nd from 2 to 5 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 23rd at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville Road, North Grafton with burial to follow in Wilkinsonville Cemetery, Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen’s name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
