SHREWSBURY — Two people have been hospitalized after falling through the ice of Dean Park Pond in Shrewsbury, a popular recreational spot in town.
Boston 25 News first reported the incident.
According to Shrewsbury Police, on Monday, Dec. 23, at around 7:23 a.m., a dog walker reported the incident. Shrewsbury Police, Shrewsbury Fire and Worcester EMS were immediately dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, the two individuals were observed skating towards the shoreline and were assisted by emergency personnel. It was determined that the two were ice skating on the pond and fell through somewhere near the middle of the pond.
The two parties were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
