Shrewsbury – William H. “Bill” McGinley, 63, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, with his beloved family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan A. (Carter) McGinley, in 2006.
Bill leaves his beloved children, Emily E. McGinley, Erin N. McGinley, and Michael W. McGinley, all of Shrewsbury; his devoted partner, Janet M. Campaniello, of Shrewsbury; his siblings, Robert P. “Bubba” McGinley and his wife Mary, of Shrewsbury, Cheryl A. Gardell and her husband Jeff, of West Boylston, Pamela J. LaCasse and her husband Jeffrey, of Worcester, and Christopher J. McGinley, of Shrewsbury; his in-laws, Joan and Anthony Carter, of Shrewsbury; along with many nieces and nephews, and his feather friend, Patrick. He was also predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Ankrah.
Bill was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert K. and Nancy J. (MacLeod) McGinley. He was raised and educated in Shrewsbury, and was a 1980 graduate of Shrewsbury High School. Bill had an extensive career as a ceramic tile installer – he took great pride in his work and enjoyed making his clients happy. He was a workaholic and loved keeping busy.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, birdwatching, and being by the ocean. He loved his Patriots and cheering them on during a good play.
Bill’s family would like to sincerely thank Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Chestnut Hill/Newton, and especially thank Dr. Patel and Nurse Zoe for their care.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the McGinley family between 10 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, with a prayer service to follow at 2 PM. Burial will be held privately.
