West Boylston – John S. Ferdella, 83, passed away at his home on December 19, 2024 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

His absence will be deeply felt by his daughter Beth Ann and her husband James Moughan of Holden, MA and his son John Ferdella, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Paris, France. He was a proud and loving Grampy to his grandchildren James, Caitlin and Alyssa Moughan and Gianna and Anthony Ferdella. His loss will be felt by his sister-in-law Kathy (Capurso) Stukowski, whom he affectionately called “sis,” and her husband Paul.

He will be deeply missed by his sisters Anita Corridori, Marie D’Auteuil and Angela Simone and her husband Thomas, along with his nieces and nephews and their children. He never forgot any of their birthdays!

John provided a wonderful life for his partner Elaine Simone, who will miss him along with her children Elena Inangelo, Carissa Soucie and her partner Norm Soucie, Frank Inangelo and his wife Mara and their children Veronica and Alexandra.

He was predeceased by his parents Libera (Murgo) and Anthony Ferdella, his loving wife of 37 years, Ann (Capurso), and his brothers-in-laws Frank Corridori and Ron D’Auteuil.

John was born in Worcester and grew up on Shrewsbury Street surrounded by his large Italian family. After marriage, he raised his family in Shrewsbury. John was a graduate of North High School, Becker College and Clark University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He received his MBA from Nichols College and a Management Degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

He proudly served his country from 1961-1965 by joining the United States Air Force at the beginning of the Vietnam War. He was stationed in the Philippines assigned to the Intelligence Division and spent an additional year in El Paso, Texas.

John enjoyed many years at his Cape home where he shared great memories with family and friends. He also had fun spending winters in Florida during his retirement years. He loved to travel, especially to Italy and to visit his son John and his family in Paris. John liked to spend his spare time reading, working on puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren.

John enjoyed his semi-annual golf weekends with his close cousins and his weekly golf outings with his longtime friends. He cherished his Wednesday lunches with his sister Anita and his grandson Jimmy. John loved life and was extremely generous. He believed in volunteering and was on the Salvation Army Advisory Board. All of his family members and friends sought advice from him and relied upon his guidance.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 17th, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street. Services are arranged by Mercadante Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18 at 10:00 am at St. George Catholic Church, 40 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Saint John’s cemetery in Worcester.
