July 17, 1956 – Dec. 29, 2024
Millbury – Ronald “Wayne” Brooks, 68, passed away on December 29, 2024, following an illness.
He is survived by his two children Amie Brooks-Lacroix, her husband Daniel Lacroix, and Lucille Brooks, and her husband, Kenneth Leonard. Wayne had five grandchildren, Zachary Brooks, Caleb Paul, Aiden Leonard, Lavinia Mayou, and Owen Leonard who he cherished and loved above all. He is also survived by his companion of 16 years Maureen Larochelle, and her children Sean and Paul Larochelle. As well as his sisters Carol Georgiou, Donna, and Darlene Brooks, several nieces and nephews, and his former wife Anna-Maria Paul. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Brooks.
Wayne was born in Worcester, MA, the son of Edith Brooks and his late father, Robert Brooks. His roots were in Westborough, as he graduated from Westborough High School. For many years, he worked in plastics at Danafilms in Westborough, and then for a time, he worked at Beaumont Nursing and Rehab in Northbridge, where he met Maureen, and Danielle’s Pub in North Grafton before his retirement.
Simple things made Wayne happy; a car ride around town with the windows down and an iced coffee in hand, enjoying the scenery with the sun on his face, bird watching, especially for eagles, any chance he got, and spending quality time with his family. Wayne was an avid sports fan, and he and Maureen often watched the games anytime they were on TV. To his adoring grandkids, he was known as “Grampa Man” but to everyone else, he was the king of “dad” jokes and always had something to say to put a smile on everyone’s face.
The family would like to thank the staff at Care One at Millbury for the amazing care Wayne and his family received these last few months. They made it possible for Wayne to enjoy the time he had left with his family and allowed us to have one last large family Christmas celebration.
All are welcome to gather with Wayne’s family Wednesday January 8th from 4-6pm at Roney Funeral Home 152 Worcester St. N. Grafton, MA 01536 followed by a remembrance service in the funeral home at 6pm. Burial will be private at a later date.
