Christmas Tree Pickup

Food Drive

The Northborough Public Library is conducting a month-long food drive. Bring nonperishable, unexpired food items to the Reference Desk on the second floor of the library during regular open hours (Mondays-Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.). High-need items include: chunky soups and chowders; low-sodium beef stew; cereal; canned vegetables (peas + carrots, corn, beets, potato); canned fruit or fruit cups; cooking oil (canola, olive); pasta; dried beans; lunch size snacks (popcorn, pretzels, chips); mayonnaise; rice.

Climate Café – Wild About Wildlife

Saturday, Jan. 4, 10 to 11 a.m., Marlborough Public Library, 35 West Main St. Learn all about our native wildlife here in Marlborough and little things we can do each day to protect these beautiful animals. Learn all about the Gianquinto Wildlife Center and what a wildlife rehabilitator does every day to help save wildlife. Also, get a chance to meet the center’s educational ambassador, Bella, the barn owl up close and learn why raptors are nature’s best pest control. There will be complimentary coffee and pastries.

Drop-In Weekend Fun

Saturday, Jan. 4, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Westborough Public Library, 55 West Main St. Kids and caregivers can drop into the Activity Room during this time to enjoy the day’s activities. Specific activities vary, but could include making crafts, building with LEGO bricks, doing puzzles or playing games. Best for kids age 3 and older with caregiver. Per library policy — ages 6 and under must be actively supervised by a caregiver; Ages 7-11 must have a caregiver nearby. No registration needed.

Fleecers, Swindlers and Con Artists: A History of Fraud Through the Ages

Saturday, Jan. 4, noon, Marlborough Public Library, 35 West Main St. Join us in the Grice Community Room for a presentation by local author Bob Ainsworth on Charles Ponzi, Bernie Madoff and other scams throughout history. Registration required.

Family Makerspace

Saturday, Jan. 4, 2 to 4 p.m., Shrewsbury Public Library, 609 Main St. Create your very own creature. This is the first in a series of low-tech STEAM programs geared to families. We will provide the prompts, materials, and equipment to encourage hands-on learning, creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and more. No registration required.

Meat Raffle and 50/50 Game
