REGION – Federal offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9, as part of the national day of mourning declared by President Joe Biden for former President Jimmy Carter.
There will be no delivery of U.S. mail; the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will also be closed.
American and Massachusetts state flags will remain at half-staff until Jan. 28.
State and local municipal offices will remain open on Jan. 9.
Carter, who served as President from 1977-1981, died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100.
