Marlborough – Eileen L. (Buchanan) Magee, 72, of Marlborough, died December 29, 2024, at her home in Marlborough surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Emily (Bartch) Buchanan and the wife of Raymond Magee, who were happily married for over 50 years.
Eileen is survived by her son Colin Magee, her daughter, Erin Magee, her brother Richard Buchanan and her sisters, Anne Sipe, Patricia Buchanan and Susan Smith.
Eileen was born in Marietta, PA and moved to Boston with Ray to pursue a career in special education. Early on, Eileen worked at a day care center in Mattapan and The Learning Center in Sudbury, MA. The majority of her career was spent at the Children’s Way in the Wayland Public School where she worked with special needs and autistic children.
In the words of a coworker, “Her hospitality towards the children and colleagues was magical. The way she greeted others made them feel important and valued in the room. Her imaginative creativity in captivating each student made them feel special. In difficult situations, she was always humble and graceful. She had a way of expressing herself in a non-judgmental manner.”
Eileen was an active person who maintained a close group of friends and hobbies. She enjoyed her Koi pond, gardening, hiking, bicycle riding and kayaking, especially with her family. Eileen also enjoyed music. She played piano and sang in a choir while in college.
A Celebration of Life for Eileen will be held March 8, 2025, with details to follow.
Slattery Funeral Home of Marlborough assisted with arrangements.
