Food Drive

The Northborough Public Library is conducting a monthlong food drive. Bring nonperishable, unexpired food items to the reference desk on the second floor of the library during regular open hours (Mondays-Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.). High-need items include: chunky soups and chowders; low-sodium beef stew; cereal; canned vegetables (peas + carrots, corn, beets, potato); canned fruit or fruit cups; cooking oil (canola, olive); pasta; dried beans; lunch size snacks (popcorn, pretzels, chips); mayonnaise; rice.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Saturday, Jan. 11, 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 12, 1 to 4:45 p.m., Westborough Public Library, 55 W. Main St. Most items are $1 or less, and all proceeds benefit the programs and services of the library.

Winter Market

Saturday, Jan. 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Marlborough Public Library, 35 W. Main St. Fresh meat, produce and more. Information here.

Winter Walk at the Headlands Conservation Area

Sunday, Jan. 12, 1 to 3 p.m., 6 Olde Hickory Path, Westborough. Enjoy a wintry walk of exploration and discovery led by the Westborough Community Land Trust’s Sam Plummer. Mill Pond, the headwaters of the Assabet River, is surrounded by one of Westborough’s most beautiful conservation areas. Enjoy the variety of trees and signs of wildlife on this 2.5 mile-walk on slightly hilly woodland trails. Traction devices attached to boots are strongly recommended if the temperature is below freezing. Free, open to the public, no reservation needed. Meet at the far side of the Mill Pond School parking lot.
