Southborough Rotary welcomes visitors from India

Southborough - The Rotary Club of Southborough hosted four visitors from the Republic of India May 4 through 7 as part of the Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange (GSE) program. The GSE program provides a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 who come from a variety of backgrounds - from corporations, small businesses, community organizations, medical and educational facilities, government offices and nonprofit agencies, to name a few.

Shrewsbury Stop & Shop donate to St. Anne’s food pantry

Shrewsbury –The Shrewsbury Stop & Shop, located at 539 Boston Turnpike, presented a donation of $4,116 to the St. Anne’s Human Services food pantry March 1. Hudson – After graduating from Hudson High School in 2010, Michaella “Kayla” Walsh Libby majored in public health at the University of Maryland (UM). There, she tutored inner-city children with Kids Power in Washington, D.C., and raised funds for the UM chapter of Students Helping Honduras (SHH), with whom she planned to travel and help build a school. However, she died unexpectedly in 2012 at age 20, only weeks before that trip.

Peaslee School celebrates 100th day of school by giving back

Northborough - Many area schools celebrate the 100th day of the school year by featuring the number 100 in student activities. For example, students may create a picture using 100 items, or find 100 similar objects to bring into school for show and tell. Third-grade teacher at Peaslee School Melissa Farrell wanted to do something different: she suggested the students participate in a food drive to collect much-needed items for the local food pantry.
