Marlborough Chamber hosts 38th Annual Premier Golf Open

Marlborough - For the 38th year in a row, the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce held its annual golf tournament at the Marlborough Country Club June 5. The event raises money to sponsor various local projects such as the Women's Business Council, the government affairs committee, the ambassador program and the business connection program. It is one of the longest running and most entertaining golf events in the area. The benefit featured an all-day putting contest, a hole-in-one contest, a raffle, many prizes and complimentary, humorous caricatures of each golfer. Volunteers joined Chamber of Commerce staff members to organize the program and make sure everything ran smoothly. President Susanne Leeber and Executive Vice President Cathy Mogavero were on hand to thank the many participants who supported the Open and all the volunteers who made this fundraiser successful.

State officials speak at 495/Metrowest Partnership conference

Marlborough - Although there are challenges to be met, the Metrowest region is primed for success, state officials told attendees at the 495/Metrowest Partnership's annual conference June 1. But critical issues that must be focused on include improving infrastructure, particularly roads, training potential employees in the fields of science, mathematics, technology and engineering (STEM), and ensuring communities work together as a region in order to be competitive with other areas. The partnership, a consortium of businesses, municipalities and community organizations from 37 communities, was founded in 2003 as a way to advocate for the regional economy. The annual conference, held at the Marlborough Courtyard by Marriott, featured speeches by several members of Gov. Deval Patrick's cabinet, including Lt. Gov. Tim Murray.

They'se got it all at Harry's

Westborough – Harry's has been a local favorite since 1946, but it seems more popular than ever. Every seat was taken when I arrived with a friend on a recent weeknight to chow down on something delicious. We waited just long enough to get familiar with the special board before we were seated in a booth under a painting of a smiling clam, surrounded by families and groups of friends enjoying Harry's classic comfort food.
