Cornerstone Academy students place at 2015 National Mythology

Northborough – Students from the Cornerstone Academy recently were awarded medallions in the 2015 National Mythology Exam. The purpose of the exam is to inspire students to learn about classical mythology and literature.

Central One spreads random acts of kindness

Westborough – On Feb. 20, a cold, blustery Friday morning, several people out and about in downtown Westborough got a warm and unexpected surprise, courtesy of Central One Federal Credit Union. That morning, the bank’s Westborough branch manager, David Kaiser and assistant branch manager, Rajani Kodun, visited several local establishments and paid for such things as breakfast, haircuts and groceries.

New upscale consignment shop opens in Sudbury

Region - Clinton resident Juleen Weber opened Delly’s Consignment Boutique in Sudbury Nov. 27. The upscale boutique features brand-name fashions for men, women and kids, to include clothing, shoes handbags, jewelry and accessories. Named for Weber’s son Ardell, 20, Delly’s accepts only up-to-date styles in new or excellent condition – typically less than three years old.

Two Westborough businesses honored by selectmen

Westborough – Two local businesses were honored during the Westborough Board of Selectmen’s May 24 meeting. Jon Cohen, who owns Harry’s Restaurant with his wife Linda, accepted a proclamation of congratulations from the Board on the occasion of the restaurant’s 70th anniversary. Harry’s, located on 149 Turnpike Rd (Route 9 West), was opened by Cohen’s parents, Harry and Eleanor, in 1946. Since that time, it has become an iconic local establishment.

Shrewsbury limousine company “going green”

Shrewsbury – Knight's Airport Limousine Service, headquartered at 390 Hartford Turnpike in Shrewsbury, is joining the "green" revolution, making an effort to reduce its energy use and lower its carbon emissions by converting the company's Ford E-350 vans to propane autogas. Knight's boasts a diversified fleet of over 50 vehicles, including Lincoln Town Cars, passenger vans, and mini-buses (accommodating 23 to 29 passengers) which log thousands of miles per week. With the inconsistent and often increasing cost of fuel, the management of Knight's began to research alternatives; ultimately leading them to ROUSH CleanTech, a division of Michigan- based ROUSH Enterprises.

Selectmen have mixed reaction to Ocean State Job Lot alcohol proposal

Westborough--A proposal to add beer and wine sales at the Ocean State Job Lot store on Milk Street drew a mixed reaction from the Board of Selectmen Sept. 9. OSJL Spirits LLC applied for a beer and wine license for the recently expanded store at 180 Milk St., saying it would use about 600 square feet of the 37,000-square foot store to carry out the license.
