Westborough bakery expansion underway

Westborough - Located on the corner of Route 9 and Milk Street in Westborough for the past 14 years, Gerardo's Italian Bakery is a local favorite. Known for their cannolis, fresh breads, pastries and cakes, Gerardo's has enjoyed the patronage of Route 9 commuters and travelers who have come to know the staff by name. In order to better serve their customers, Gerardo's is building an entire new bakery adjacent to the current shop. The new bakery will be 2,000 square feet, double their current size, and will have a seating area and expanded parking.

Shrewsbury Athletic Club – Facility getting a makeover under new ownership

Shrewsbury—The Shrewsbury Athletic Club just off Route 9 is undergoing major renovations to upgrade the facility and to offer new services. “When the renovations are all done, we will be offering a full-service athletic facility with a health club aspect for adults and kids of all ages,” said Nathan Sorensen, who bought the business about a year ago. He owned and operated the Hit Quarters turfed sports facility within the club for the past 10 years.

Burlington Coat Factory to open at former BJ's in Westborough

Westborough –The Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation will be opening a store at the site of the former BJ's warehouse store in Westborough later this summer. The news was announced at this morning's Westborough Economic Development Committee. The BJ's site has been empty since last fall after the store relocated to the Northborough Crossing. Westborough officials said they were not clear on what impact the new store would have on the current Burlington Coat Factory in Shrewsbury, which is located just miles away at the Christmas Tree Shop Plaza.

Proponents of proposed Grafton marijuana clinic pull application

Grafton - The ongoing saga of the Sage Cannabis marijuana clinic seems to have ended this week when town officials received a letter notifying them that Sage had abandoned its plans to create a marijuana clinic at the old Cumberland Farms building at 206 Worcester St. a site abutting the Hollywood Drive residential neighborhood. This issue has become an ongoing controversy between the Town and angry residents since November, 2015, when the Board issued a Letter of Non-opposition to the clinic’s siting.
