Westborough – Local developer Sotir Papalilo of Westwood Associates has been trying for nearly a decade to get a 55-plus development, Park Place, under way. But with the state of the real estate market still in recovery mode, he told the Board of Selectmen at its Oct. 27 meeting that he has been struggling to find buyers for the 12-unit development.

For the past five years, Sears and Ransden have been helping feed hundreds of local needy families, thanks to their determination, dedication - and the generosity of their neighbors.
Marlborough - Students at Marlborough High School (MHS) set aside their homework and after-school activities last week to raise money for breast cancer research.
Shrewsbury – On Oct. 18, voters rejected a measure to approve a temporary debt exclusion of nearly $11 million that would have been used to fund a portion of a proposed renovation and expansion of the town's public library.
Shrewsbury - The area regulated for infestation of the Asian Long-Horned Beetle (ALB) in Worcester County has been expanded to include all of Shrewsbury after eight infested trees on Bryant Avenue were discovered by officials with the Massachusetts ALB cooperative eradication program.
Marlborough - On Nov. 1, voters will decide who will be their next mayor – Arthur Vigeant, a certified public accountant and a city councilor for the past 18 years (as well as the current council president) or political newcomer Matthew Jones, a local attorney and former school teacher.
Shrewsbury - Mike Coggeshall, the junior quarterback, has his team at 3-3, which is good enough to be in a four-way tie for second place in Division 1. With the field wide open, Coggeshall and the Colonials look to make a Super Bowl run.
Westborough - There's not much related to eye care that the Keamy Eye & Laser Centre doesn's handle, from a child's first vision check to routine eye exams to cataract surgery and cosmetic surgery.
Marlborough – On Nov. 1 voters will decide which four of the eight Councilor-at-large candidates should represent the city. On Oct. 19 those candidates met for a debate sponsored by the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce and WMCT-TV.
Westborough - For nearly two decades, Rod Jané has volunteered his time and expertise to help his hometown of Westborough. He has served as a parent volunteer in the schools and youth sports, as a member of the School Committee and Board of Selectmen, and as a founder of the town's Economic Development Committee. On Wednesday, Nov. 2, he will be honored for his many contributions to the town by the Boy Scouts of America, Knox Trail Council, with the 2011 Westborough Good Scout Award.
