Shrewsbury man reads to the blind

Shrewsbury – Bruce Andrews grew up with a little sister who was six years his junior. He loved to read to her. As an Eagle Scout during his youth, he was picked to read a selection to the public at a Memorial Day Parade.

Selectmen deny plan for Dunkin” Donuts drive-through

Westborough – A proposed drive-through for the Dunkin" Donuts store located at 35 East Main St. was rejected by the Board of Selectmen at its Sept. 13 meeting. The members of the board, as they have in past meetings, cited safety concerns as their main reason for the denial.

Wegmans brings out Southborough, Northborough crowd

Residents from Southborough and surrounding towns came to hear Wegmans representatives Kevin Russell (a 25-year Wegmans employee) and Jeff Kuczynski (a 14-year employee). The audience watched a slide presentation on the company's history and plans for the new, 130,000-square-feet Northborough location.

Local deacon serves community in countless ways

Marlborough - John Nicholson serves as a deacon at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sudbury, a vocation he believes is a calling from God. It allows him to serve inside the parish to which he was assigned, as well as outside in a variety of ministries, including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, hospitals and prisons.

Southborough Library to celebrate centennial

Southborough - Southborough residents are invited to the library Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a celebratory Open House. Although the library was started in 1852, it was in 1911 that it moved to 25 Main St. in Southborough. The building was constructed in 1911 and enlarged in 1989.
