Over 300 participate in Mary Beth Benison Foundation 5K Road Race

Region - The weather held out on Oct. 15 for over 300 runners participating in the 2nd Mary Beth Benison (MBB) Foundation 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run. The foundation uses the MBBF 5k as a way to honor the late Mary Beth Benison, a Northborough resident who passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2015 and another individual from Central Massachusetts who is living with ALS or who has passed away from ALS. This year’s race was in memory of Maryellen Standring who lived in Holden and passed away from ALS in 2014.

Forum to be held on tween/teens’ brain development

Shrewsbury - The Shrewsbury Coalition for Addiction Prevention & Education (SCAPE) will host nationally-renowned speaker and expert Dr. Ruth Potee, who will discuss brain development and teen risk taking, including alcohol and substance use Thursday, Nov. 16 at Shrewsbury High School, 64 Holden St., Shrewsbury. The event will begin with information tables in the school’s common area at 6 p.m., followed by Potee’s presentation from 7-8:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.
