Education foundation, trivia bee celebrate milestones

Westborough – Lots of laughs were shared when milestone anniversaries were celebrated Nov. 6 at the DoubleTree by Hilton. While marking its 20th year, the Westborough Education Foundation (WEF) presented its 10th annual Trivia Bee. WEF’s primary fundraiser helped provide $21,170 in grants in this 2017-2018 school year and over $375,000 throughout two decades.

Westborough to hold 300th anniversary ‘Grande’ Parade Sept. 10

Westborough – The town of Westborough will celebrate its 300th anniversary with a “grande’ parade on Sunday, Sept. 10. The 2017 parade will feature 140 units representing veterans, community leaders, local organizations, businesses, community groups, civic organizations, antique vehicles, municipal vehicles, and 58 floats. It will also feature the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, who will use the event as a warm-up of sorts for their appearance in the 2018 Rose Bowl parade.

Westborough - The culmination of Westborough’s 300th anniversary year will be a “Grande Parade” on Sunday, Sept. 10 beginning at 1 p.m. Grand marshals for the much anticipated event will be two very familiar and well-respected women– Lydia Goldblatt and Kristine Allen. Both have served on numerous town boards, including years on the Board of Selectmen, and both have given much of their time over the years volunteering with nonprofit organizations in the town.
