Grafton selectmen deny reappointment of housing member

Grafton – At its July 7 meeting, a strongly divided Grafton Board of Selectmen debated the reappointment of Affordable Housing Trust (GAHT) Chair Edward Prisby. What was to have been a nearly pro-forma discussion and vote devolved into a lengthy reiteration of what Prisby had allegedly been involved with earlier in the year, when a legal settlement with Pulte Homes became an issue of contention.

‘Super Park’ again discussed by Grafton selectmen

Grafton - A Town Meeting article regarding Super Park – a recreation and improvement of the park destroyed when the new high school was built - was a topic of discussion at the Sept. 15 meeting of the Grafton Board of Selectmen. Voters had rejected funding the park at the spring Town Meeting. Two articles on the warrant sought a total of $243,000 for the first phase of the Super Park’s land acquisition. The committee secured $100,000 from Community Preservation funds but did not, however, secure the $143,000 requested from leftover funds from building the Grafton Fire Station.

Three local libraries approved for placement on waitlist for funds

Region – Three local libraries – Grafton, Marlborough and Westborough – have been approved to go onto a waitlist for renovation funds granted through a state program overseen by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC). Nine Massachusetts communities – Dartmouth, Hadley, Kingston, Medford, Norwell, Springfield, Sutton, Wayland and Weymouth – received grants that will allow them to proceed with construction for 2017-2018.
